What stages of Healing/Recovery have you or are you going through?

The only times I find myself getting angry is when it affects my own family
Well I tend to agree with this statement. My mother is the only JW in the family and the only and as long as she is indeed a JW then the WTBS's lies will affect my life.

I've been working 5 days a week for 9 to 10 hours a day for almost 8 years, so yeah, a four ten week would be fantastic.

When I began leaving the WTBS, I was more concerned about living the life the way I wanted. I discovered the abandonment of the 1914 doctrine during this time but I had pretty much made up my mind at that time that the WTBS didn’t affect my life any more. I had always had doubts and in the time that I had been away from the borg I had made up my mind that they were not the truth as they promote.
It wasn’t until years after I had been away that I started to look into the reality of what the WTBS claims as truth. When I discovered all of the lies and deceit I became angry at the fact that my first 17 to 18 years of life had been so controlled. The more I thought about it the more enraged I became. All the persecution endured, hours spent at meetings, hours spent studying for meeting, all the nervous hours spent preaching to strangers on their door steps were utterly wasted.
I’m still trying to deal with this obviously. I believe that’s why I come here to this board. I need to vent the frustration some how. So I suppose that the state that I’m currently in is one of anger and frustration.

Funkyderek, well I would have saved on the equipment but I would have had to hit the gas station at some point in time throughout the day. LOL. So in all reality if I slept in I would have saved $57.00.

JW Husband and Apostate Wife

we raised 6 children in the borg; none of which, thankfully, stuck with it.

Do you love your husband?
If you do then it’s your responsibility to attempt to plant the seed on the rocky soil. Hopefully they’ll sprout.
If not, then you must move on with your life. Otherwise you’ll continue to live a lie even if you’re no longer associated with the WTBS directly.
I feel for you and hope that you can find peace and happiness.

Tattoo you?

and lately i've been thinking about getting a tattoo somewhere on my body, possiblely my lower back.
my sister has one there and i think it's really cool.

Apostate lies?
by gringojj inthe jws warn you not to talk to ex-jws.
they claim that they spread lies about them.
in all of my research on the jws, i have found very few instances where ex-jws have told lies about jws.

So my question is what is wrong with going to ex-jws to get info if what they are saying is true?
I find it so fascinating that the WTBS will lie to the rank and file to keep them from, what every single individual has, an inalienable right to truth. I think it was Scully that said that when a JW listens to an apostate then the JW leaves the WTBS. This is a problem for them and it is also why they warn against apostates. With today’s technological marvels and the Internet, it’s possible for any one to get information on just about any topic in a matter of seconds. This is a very precarious situation, indeed for controlling cult leaders to be in and is also exactly why they frown upon the Internet.
When I was growing up as a JW and they lectured about throwing apostate literature away, I listened intently to everything they said. I reasoned that if apostates could harm my relation with JW and my standing in the rank and file so negatively that I certainly wouldn’t even open it, just as they advised. I was actually afraid that I would ever come across a letter from an apostate. How would I know it was from an apostate? What if some mail came and I didn’t know it was apostate and accidentally opened it?
Now as I question that line of thought I ask myself, as an intelligent thinking individual, if presented facts on any given issue, am I capable of examining the evidence and determining for myself what the truth is? Do I want others making decisions for myself and my family? Am I content to take the word of a group of strangers that I will never meet or shake hands with?
If you presented these questions to a JW in the context of any other aspect of their life other then religion, the critical thinking part of their brain would switch on and eight or nine times out of ten the majority would make smart decisions. Because they have all been programmed with the relentless drum of the WTBS when someone applies these questions to religion they immediately hit the kill switch. Their ability to think for themselves or reason is instantly taken over by the prerecorded message of the WTBS. -
